Civil Service Commission

Sir David Normington

The Civil Service Commission regulates recruitment to the Civil Service, ensuring appointments are on merit after fair and open competition.  It also helps promote the Civil Service values of Honesty, Integrity, Objectivity and Impartiality, and hears complaints under the Civil Service Code.

Welcome from the First Civil Service Commissioner

Welcome to the website of the Civil Service Commission. I was appointed as First Civil Service Commissioner and Commissioner for Public Appointments from 1 April 2011. I am currently one of eleven Civil Service Commissioners drawn from a wide variety of backgrounds, and between us we have extensive experience of management and leadership in the private, public and voluntary sectors.

On this site you will find out about who we are, what we do, and how we are governed.
