Public Administration Select Committee publishes report on Civil Service impartiality during referendums (26 March 2015)

The Public Administration Select Committee has published a report on Civil Service impartiality during referendums. It reflects on the experience of last year’s referendum on Scottish independence and makes some recommendations for safeguarding impartiality in future referendums.

The Commission welcomes the focus on the Civil Service values and the role of the Code. The Select Committee’s report is an important contribution to the debate about the future of the Civil Service.

The Commission is ready to work with Government to discuss how the report’s recommendations might be taken forward.
