Exceptions Review Published (4 July 2016)

The Commission has published a review of the use of exceptions across the Civil Service.

The Commission’s Recruitment Principles contain ten permitted exceptions to the requirement to select on merit on the basis of fair and open competition. Most of these exceptions are time-limited. Their use is delegated to departments, apart from the most senior, and the highest paid, roles in the Civil Service.
