Civil Service Senior Leadership Changes (15 July 2014)
Commenting on the Prime Minister’s announcement of changes at the top of the Civil Service, Sir David Normington, First Civil Service Commissioner, said:
‘I personally welcome the proposed reorganisation at the top of the Civil Service, particularly the decisions to reunite the roles of Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Civil Service in a single person and to recruit a full-time Chief Executive of the Civil Service. I believe both changes will strengthen the leadership of the Civil Service in developing and implementing the next phase of Civil Service reform.
Since the Government has decided to recruit externally to the new post of Chief Executive of the Civil Service, I will be chairing the selection panel for that open competition as First Civil Service Commissioner in the normal way. I know that the Government is keen to make an appointment quickly, so details will be published within the next few days.’
