Civil Service Commission

Appointment of new Chief Executive for Civil Service Commission (23 November 2012)

The Civil Service Commission is pleased to announce that it has appointed Clare Salters as the Commission’s new Chief Executive.

Clare takes over from Richard Jarvis, who left the Commission in October to join the Ministry of Defence as Head of International Engagement, based in the Defence Academy.

Clare is seconded from the Northern Ireland Office where, as Head of Constitutional Policy & Liaison, she was part of the team that restored devolution and devolved policing and justice. Her previous roles there included work on human rights & equality, police reform, public inquiries and serving as Private Secretary to the Head of the Northern Ireland Civil Service.  She served as Deputy Secretary to the Iraq Inquiry, chaired by Sir John Chilcot, from July 2009 to September 2012 and has also worked in the Department of Health, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and the Northern Ireland Department for Health and Social Services.

Clare takes up her post on 17 December 2012.
